About Corlears Hook Network

Welcome to CorlearsHook.net

Now what is it?

CorelearsHook.net is a web community for cooperators and residents of the East River Housing Cooperative. Located on Grand Street and FDR Drive in NYC, the buildings are near Corlears Hook Park and are in a neighborhood that used to be known as Corlears Hook.

A web community?

So many of us lead busy lives, it is hard to get to know your neighbors, find out important information about politics and government, and the housing corporation and management company (Cooperative Village) that runs our buildings. CorlearsHook.net aims to provide this information to members of our community. We also hope to provide a tool for people to get to know each other, or find others who may have shared needs, or who can lend a helping hand.

Not Another Message Board...

CorlearsHook.net is not another message board. There are plenty of places for open (and sometimes ugly) online discourse. We are not looking to serve that purpose. We aim to create a safe and friendly space for cooperators to get and share information, event listings, and other resources.

About Ideas

We are members of a community--a cooperative--and many of us have professional skills and special knowledge about issues that face our community and our corpration every day. Others just have good ideas. We can be a resource for our Board and our Management company. But in a community of over 1600 units it can be hard to get your idea out, and find out if others agree. CorlearsHook.net can be a marketplace for these ideas.

Advancing Sustainable Living

As energy costs increase, and environmental issues loom large for the city we call home, CorlearsHook.net hopes to advance concepts of sustainability at the household, building, community and city scale.
